Outline
This course will offer 50 hours of study time and will be an introduction into fundamental counselling skills. Katy and Mark are experienced practitioners working with humanistic and integrative approaches. This means you will experience principles from a Humanistic framework of Dance Movement Psychotherapy, Process Oriented Psychology, with reference to other approaches, such as Rogerian person centred methods.
The course will be in the format of ten 3 hour sessions, with an additional requirement of individual study time of approximately an hour per session, as well as 4 peer group sessions (1.5 hours each). As this course will be online there is the possibility to record and share the core content.
The course will be on Monday evenings from 6.30-9.30pm UK time with a 10 minute break, on the following dates. There are weeks off in between sessions to allow for the study groups and other self study options.
- March 17th & 24th
- April 7th and 14th
- May 5th, 12th and 19th
- June 9th, 16th
- July 7th
We will aim for this course to be predominantly focused on experiential learning of key counselling skills that are relevant for us as body workers and teachers, with relevant theory brought in to support this. As some of the learning will be relational there will be an expectation of forming practice peer groups (approx 4 sessions of 2 hours).
Some of the key aspects we are intending to focus on are:
- Therapeutic relationship, listening & communication skills, attunement, empathy, and other principles.
- Therapeutic understanding, conscious, unconscious, transference/countertransference
- Trauma Informed Practices – approaches and ethical issues.
- Structural Discrimination, Managing Conflict
For further information or if you have any questions please contact us on the above emails.
Pricing: £150 unemployed; £200 (concession), £350 (waged).
