Katy Dymoke is offering 10 modules of 2.5 hours a week from November 2024 to January 2025. This will involve 5 hours of self study and 3 homework assignments applying the muscle testing techniques.  In total the 30 hours will fulfill the homework requirements for the Practitioner Program and may be of general interest.

Group 1

Tuesday 7.00-9.30 p.m. November 19, 26, December 10, 17, Thursday

January 2, 9, and Tuesday 28, February 4, 11, 25.

Group 2

(2025) Monday 6.30- 9 p.m. May 5, 12, 19, 26,  June 2nd, 9th, 16,  23rd, July 7 and 14th.

Price for the series; £150 or £90 low income or £75 unwaged for the series.

Missed sessions; If needed these sessions can be recorded on audio and used for a catch up session of 30 minutes for £25/ £20/ or £10. Alternatively you can attend the session in the second group to catch up.

Overview in brief

Proposed material to be explored;

Class 1
General overview of the course, key principles.  Review of Bones and joint types relative to movement initiation, using embodiment and perception through touch and movement.

Class 2.
Review of muscle shape, form, actions from different body segments through movement and touch.
Explore muscle testing principles with reference to the shoulder – rotator cuff muscles.

Class 3
Review of 1st, 2nd and 3rd class levers in action.  Review the movement of bones/joints of the shoulder girdle; embody the range of movement and testing of muscles with reference to the shoulder girdle.

Class 4
Review of Axial and Appendicular skeleton classification.  Embody the articulations of the cervical vertebrae.  Explore muscle testing principles with reference to the Head neck; 

Class 5
Review of Myology. Review of thoracolumbar spine. Explore muscle testing principles with reference to the erector spinae muscles and spinal column.  

Class 6
Trunk. Embody movement of the trunk; proximal and distal initiation.  Attention to muscles of the trunk through palpation and primary movements.  Explore muscle testing principles with reference to abdominal and thoracic muscles.

Class 7 
Pelvis. Explore the muscles involved in balancing the range of movement of the joints of the pelvis, tonifying the pelvic diaphragm.

Class 8
Lower extremity. Muscle groups and movements of upper leg to pelvis. Embody movements of the hip, testing the muscles to explore any imbalance.

Class 9
Lower extremity; knee/ankle. Explore range of movement at the knee and ankle/foot.  Work with intrinsic/extrinsic muscle testing.

Class 10
Presentations and review, working with kinesiology – application.  Consider student homework and dyad presentations.
